Reproductive rights of women in Thailand


Progress and challenges towards attainment of international development goals

This report examines Thailand’s progress in the area of women’s reproductive health in the context of major international declarations and conventions including the MDGs. The report finds that a persistent gender gap exists in reproductive health and maternal mortality. The following areas are considered:
  • Thai women’s status in the economic and political arenas
  • reproductive health concerns including maternal mortality STI/HIV/AIDS, adolescent reproductive health, reproductive malignancies, and older person’s reproductive health
  • addressing larger issues concerning women’s reproductive and sexual rights in the country
  • the reproductive health of women from minority groups and those who have experienced gender based violence.
